The 2014 X.Org Developer's Conference (XDC2014) is to be held from October 8th through 10th, 2014 in Bordeaux, France. ## Pre-XDC gathering We will gather at the Connemara, 14-18 cours d'Albret, Bordeaux (Google maps) starting from 6pm! Please come over! ## Venue
The conference will be held in the 's main amphitheater. This research lab is located in the campus of the University of Bordeaux 1 at 351, cours de la Libération, Talence, Bordeaux, France Google Map
The venue can be reached by the [tram B](http://www.infotbc.com/ligne/B), "Peixotto" stop. Here is a [map of the area](http://people.freedesktop.org/~mperes/XDC2014/B_11_Peixotto_V1_0.pdf). ## Program There are two ways to submit a presentation for this event: 1. There is a /Other/Press/CFP2014. The deadline for submission is September, 10, 2014. 1. For more informal presentations you may add your talk to the program page. The deadline for submission here is October 6, 2014. The program is available /Events/XDC2014/Program. ## Registration The conference is entirely free of charges. If you cannot add yourself, please send an email to martin.peres@labri.fr with the following object/title "XDC2014: Add attendee $name $surname. ## Accommodation I would recommend staying down-town and not close to the university because the trams stop at around 12pm from Sunday to Wednesday and 1am from Thursday to Saturday. You can take a tram in the morning to go to the university and another one to come back to the town center after the conference. Here is the list of Events/XDC2014/Hotels. ## Travel ### Train Bordeaux is connected to major cities via train. You can buy [train tickets](http://en.voyages-sncf.com/en/) in advance on the national train company. The prefered train station of arrival would be the [Gare Saint-Jean](https://maps.google.fr/maps?espv=2&es_sm=91&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=gare+de+bordeaux+saint+jean&fb=1&gl=fr&hq=gare+saint+jean&cid=3155124922987376342&sa=X&ei=D3lCU_XPDsuJhQf6sIGYBQ&ved=0CM4BEPwS). ### Plane Bordeaux is also connected to major cities by plane. The Bordeaux airport is a little out of town but is connected to the city via [buses](http://www.bordeaux.aeroport.fr/en/info/bus-bordeaux-airport) or an [express shuttle](http://www.bordeaux.aeroport.fr/en/info/bordeaux-airport-shuttle-service). I would recommend taking the city bus that will take you to a convenient tram station (Quinconces, end of the line). ## Local transportation I would recommend buying the 7-days pass from TBC that will allow you to take any bus or tram before, during and after the conference. It's price is 11.30€ and can be purchased at any tram station or at the airport. There is a tram station next to the train station in case you arrive by train. Once down-town, everything is close-by and accessible by foot. ## Local Dining Down-town Bordeaux has a great collection of restaurants. If you don't really know what you want to eat, you can go to the [rue Saint Rémi](https://maps.google.com/?q=Rue%20Saint%20R%C3%A9mi,%20Bordeaux,%20France) where you will [find most kind of cuisines](http://www.cityvox.fr/restaurants_bordeaux/rue-saint-remi/Rue). ## Recordings Videos are available on [x.org](http://www.x.org/videos/XDC2014/), [youtube](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXlH5v1PkEhjzLFTUTm_U7g), and [Google+](https://plus.google.com/102057777074369211973). ## Travel Sponsoring If you are not on a corporate budget but have something to present, please contact the X.Org Foundation Board of Directors board@foundation.x.org for travel sponsorship. ## Miscellaneous France uses Type E/F http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC_power_plugs_and_sockets and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euro_plug at 230V/50Hz. People should remember to bring their own adapters. The currency is Euro (EUR), language is French. Hotel and restaurant staff should speak some English, since Bordeaux is a tourist town. Some restaurants have English menus available. Major credit cards (AMEX, Visa and MasterCard) are accepted at most hotels and restaurants. Some pubs may require cash for small payments. ## Further Inquiries If you have any questions regarding the event please feel free to contact me at martin.peres@labri.fr. ## Thanks The organizers want to thank: * The LaBRI/University of Bordeaux for hosting this conference, free of charges. * The https://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/VideoTeam for loaning us equipment to record the talks. ## Links * XorgFoundation/Policies/Harassment
