Click in a footnote or endnote. Choose Format - Styles and Formatting. Right-click the Paragraph Style that you want to modify, for example, "Footnote", and choose Modify. Click the Borders tab. In the Default area, click the Set Top and Bottom Borders Only icon. In the Line area, click a line in the Style list. Select "White" in the Color box. If the background of the page is not white, select the color that best matches the background color. In the Spacing to contents area, clear the Synchronize check box.
