2020-04-28drm/amd/display: Pass command instead of header into DMUB serviceNicholas Kazlauskas1-3/+3
[Why] We read memory that we shouldn't be touching if the struct isn't a full union dmub_rb_cmd. [How] Fix up all the callers and functions that take in the dmub_cmd_header to use the dmub_rb_cmd instead. 2020-01-16drm/amd/display: Indirect reg read macro with shift and maskNoah Abradjian1-0/+30
[Why] Recent double buffering changes for dcn2 use IX_REG_READ. However, this macro returns the full register value, with the need to manually shift and mask it to retrieve field data. [How] Create new IX_REG_GET macro that handles shift and mask. Use this for double buffering reads instead of IX_REG_READ. 2019-12-05drm/amd/display: Split DMUB cmd type into type/subtypeNicholas Kazlauskas1-0/+3
[Why] Commands will be considered a stable ABI between driver and firmware. Commands are also split between DC commands, DAL feature commands, and VBIOS commands. Commands are currently not designated to a specific ID and the enum does not provide a stable ABI. We currently group all of these into a single command type of 8-bits. With the stable ABI consideration in mind it's not unreasonable to run out of command IDs. For cleaner separation and versioning split the commands into a main type and a subtype. [How] For commands where performance matters (like reg sequences) these are still considered main commands. Sub commands will be split by ownership/feature. Update existing command sequences to reflect new changes. 2019-11-13drm/amd/display: Drop CONFIG_DRM_AMD_DC_DMUB guardsNicholas Kazlauskas1-19/+3
[Why] Support for DMUB only depends on support for DC. It doesn't use floating point so we don't need to guard it by any specific DCN revision. 2019-11-13drm/amd/display: Add DMUB support to DCNicholas Kazlauskas1-0/+273
DC will use DMUB for command submission and flow control during initialization. Register offloading as well as submitting some BIOS commands are part of the DC internal interface but are guarded behind debug options. It won't be functional in amdgpu_dm yet since we don't pass the DMUB service to DC for use. 2018-12-18drm/amd/display: Warn instead of error on REG_WAIT timeoutDavid Francis1-2/+2
[Why] DC warns when a REG_WAIT takes a while and full-on errors with stack dump on REG_WAIT timeout. Most of the time it isn't a real issue. [How] Make DC cool its jets - taking a while is a debug message (because it is not something that normal users should need to be aware of), and timeouts are warnings (because it technically shouldn't happen, but it's not a big deal if it does) Signed-off-by: David Francis <David.Francis@amd.com> Reviewed-by: Harry Wentland <Harry.Wentland@amd.com> Acked-by: Leo Li <sunpeng.li@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com>
2018-08-27drm/amd/display: eliminate long wait between register polls on MaximusKen Chalmers1-7/+2
[Why] Now that we "scale" time delays correctly on Maximus (as of diags svn r170115), the forced "35 ms" wait time now becomes 35 ms * 500 = 17.5 seconds, which is far too long. Even having to repeat polling a register once causes excessive delays on Maximus. [How] Just use the regular wait time passed to the generic_reg_wait() function. This is sufficient for Maximus now, and it also means that there's one less "Maximus-only" code path in DAL. Also disable the "REG_WAIT taking a while:" message on Maximus, since things do take a while longer there and 1-2ms delays are not uncommon (and nothing to worry about).
